Adding References

Adding References

Enter the number of references indicated on the form. Each reference should be a person who knows you well enough to speak to your character and integrity and has observed you in several modes i.e., not just work or school, but also socially. For each reference, you must provide adequate contact information for the investigator to make contact. If you do not have an email address for the reference, it's likely they are not close enough to you to serve as a personal reference. If you know the person well enough and they are able to vouch for your character, you should be able to obtain an email address. Our investigation process relies on the ability to contact references by email. If an email address is not provided, you must provide a phone number.

We strongly recommend that you contact each reference to expect an email or phone call from the department to which you are applying. If phone contact is anticipated, advise him or her that the number will most likely appear as blocked or otherwise unknown.
